Arapolarmic is an innovative tool for the professional, semi pro and home audio industry (audio engineers, instructors, students and musicians) for monitoring the directivity of microphones. It also contains a database with mic technical characteristics (miclibrary) always on your device.

Arapolarmic runs smoothly on devices as iPhone 5/6 or iPad 3. On devices as iPad 2 or iPhone 4 you can browse the mic library and mic specs but you may have to wait some seconds when clicking the «ARATE» button until the microphone image appears. On iPad2, during the matching process the video feed drops but it works fine when Augmented Reality is displayed.

inApp purchases are offered at a special launching price.

Arapolarmic makes possible for the first time the visualization of the microphone and its polar pattern, integrated within its audio environment (microphone set and sound sources) using Augmented Reality technology, providing visual reinforcement in making decisions for positioning of microphones on any set.

It is a very useful tool for teaching audio, recording studios, microphone sales, sound engineers, music producers, musicians...

This new version improves the recognition system, includes new features and contains new microphone models, expanding the miclibrary.

Latest reviews of Arapolarmic app for iPhone and iPad

Great concept! Mic selection severely lacking!
As a recording tech instructor this app is a godsend. Unfortunately the mic selection is extremely limited and missing virtually every studio staple microphone (Shure SM57, SM58, Beta 57, Beta 58, SM7B, SM81, Neumann U87, U47, KM84, KM184, AKG C414-ULS come to mind...) Once the mic database is expanded (kind of the whole point of the app?) it will be killer.
Nice idea, needs work
The UI is cluttered and not super intuitive. Took lot of tapping to figure out what does what. The visualizer also requires you stand in one spot, as in you can’t walk around the microphone once set. I also had a really hard time positioning the virtual mic, that portion might be broken? Once working it’s alright. I’d explore this idea using the physical photo laid flat approach.
Upgrade to full version failed and now wont launch
Tried the inapp purchase to the full version which failed due to dropped internet connection and the app now wont open at all. Uninstalled, reinstalled and no luck. No tech support just a page full of testimonials. Dont waste your time or money!
Great app but needs more mics added
I have paid high upgrade fee for this app (over $100 when taxes are added in that iTunes charges). I dont regret the purchase for a moment for I think it is a highly unique and worthwhile app that took a lot of time for the developer to program, etc. The one thing missing from the app is more microphone choices to choose from. If the developer of the app continues to enhance and add more mics at least once every 3 months or so, I will continue to be happy with my purchase. Prior to buying this app look through the database of available mics and if the mics you need are included, dont hesitate to purchase it. If the mics you need are not in it, write the developer and ask him via his website email address to add them to the existing database and purchase once he adds them. Another great thing is that once you do the big in-app purchase you get all the updated mics added to the existing database (updates) for free / as part of the original purchase price. This is fair in my opinion for it the app is definitely one of the higher priced apps out there but once you pay that fee you get all new updates for free for the life of the app. Again, I dont mind spending the high fee so long as the developer of this app continues to add more mics to his expanding database of available mics to choose from.
Not ready for prime time
Great concept but sadly lacking in microphones. Also, you have to purchase the microphone models within the app.
